What is the Generator Workshop in Gossip Harbor?

Added in recent major game updates, the Generator Workshop is one of the most praised quality-of-life additions in Gossip Harbor.

Previously, upgrade pieces for producers—like spare coffee machine parts, bread oven cogs, and orange seedlings—had to sit directly on your main 7x7 kitchen grid, consuming precious tiles needed for active orders.

The Generator Workshop provides a dedicated secondary workshop where low-tier generator components can be stored and merged internally, freeing up between 8 and 14 board spaces.

Which Generator Parts Can Enter the Workshop?

Not all items or generators can be placed in the workshop. The system only accepts components up to specific tier cutoffs:

Generator FamilyMaximum Eligible Part TierNotes
Coffee MachineLevel 1 to Level 3 PartsLevel 4+ active producers must stay on the main board.
Bread Oven / BasketLevel 1 to Level 3 PartsFlour sacks and starter oven gears can be safely stored.
Pool / Seafood PotLevel 1 to Level 4 PartsNet pieces and fishing bucket components qualify up to Lv4.
Shell & Diving BucketLevel 1 to Level 4 PartsShell buckets and dive gear parts up to Tier 4.
Orange Tree SeedlingsLevel 1 to Level 5 SeedlingsOnce a tree reaches Level 6 (active fruit producer), it returns to the board.
Tool Box PartsLevel 1 to Level 3 Screws/GearsConstruction components fit before forming a completed toolbox.

How to Use the Generator Workshop

  1. Sending Items In:
    • Locate an eligible low-level generator part on your board.
    • Double-tap the item. It will animate directly into the Generator Workshop icon at the side of your screen.
    • Alternatively, drag the part onto the Workshop door icon.
  2. Merging Inside the Workshop:
    • Tap the Generator Workshop icon to open its dedicated sub-screen.
    • You can freely rearrange and merge stored parts inside the workshop just like on your primary board.
  3. Retrieving Items:
    • Once a generator part is upgraded past its category cutoff (e.g., merging two Level 3 Coffee parts into a Level 4 working machine), the game automatically returns the working producer to your board queue.
    • You can also drag any stored component back to your active grid at any time.

”Why Don’t I Have the Generator Workshop?” (Troubleshooting)

If you see fellow players discussing the workshop on Reddit or Facebook but cannot find the icon in your game, consider the following factors:

  • Level Requirement: The Workshop typically unlocks between Player Levels 15 and 20. Complete Chore Book renovation milestones to reach this threshold.
  • App Version Update: The Workshop requires modern app builds. Check the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to verify you are on the latest release.
  • Staged Feature Rollout: Mobile developers frequently roll out new features to player clusters in phases (A/B testing). If your app is fully updated and you are past Level 20, your account will be enabled in the subsequent server wave.

Strategic Value: Recovering Tile Economy

Board real estate is the most constrained resource in Gossip Harbor. Each permanent storage slot purchased with gems scales exponentially in price (costing 50, 100, 200, 400+ gems).

By offloading 8 to 10 scattered generator parts into the Generator Workshop, you effectively gain 1,000+ gems worth of free inventory space. Use this reclaimed area to farm zero-energy Orange Trees or organize high-level order chains.

Plan Your Next Gameplay Session

Estimate pair-merge costs, check energy refill times, or search merge chain drop families.

Quick FAQ

What is the short answer?

The Generator Workshop is an auxiliary storage area that frees up main board space by holding lower-level generator parts (Coffee/Bread up to Lv3, Seafood/Shell up to Lv4, Orange Tree up to Lv5). Double-tap eligible parts on your board to store them inside.
